In our lives, there is bound to come some pain, surely as there are storms
and falling rain; just believe that the one who holds the storms will bring the sun.

Though her family's story wasn't as glittering or brilliant as some could read about, Chase Alexandra Winters had still been afforded every privilege that one could obtain in an upper-middle class neighborhood in Boston, MA. She hadn't been born 'destined for greatness' or entitled to anything. Perhaps that was what made her as special as she was. She'd been born on a frigid February morning, and her parents later often joked that she'd been named 'Chase,' because the icy blasts of wind had chased them all the way to the hospital.

As a child, Chase was as curious as the next one. She often got her hands into anything she could -- especially if she'd been told not to do it. The cookie jar, the expensive silver, the muddy sandbox. She'd wanted to experience anything and everything she could, a quality that often proved annoying to her older siblings, Jacob and Angelica. Angel was two years older, but even the small difference was enough to grate on their relationship in their youth. Jake had always been off in his own world, though if Chase'd ever had a problem, it was her brother she went to. As a result, the two'd always had a fairly close relationship, no matter how many times she ended up walking in on Jake with his girlfriends.

Her parents signed her up for violin classes when she was six, in hopes of channeling that innate curiosity into an accomplishment. And she did. She quickly fell in love with the little wooden instrument. It took her years to master her techniques and playing, but Chase never let up. She was involved with the Boston Youth Symphony by the time she was entering middle school and continued from there. When she wasn't studying or out with her friends, -- and Chase, ever the charismatic one, had never lacked for those -- she was practicing away. It was her violin playing that earned her notice from several big universities. Some of them offered music scholarships, some begged her to come to the university to play for them. In the end, Chase chose Amherst College, in Amherst MA. Often reputed to be one of the Ivies of the private sector, Amherst offered Chase the world. Literally. She was able to major in music and physics, leaning towards an emphasis in meterology. Her justification for her obsession with meteorology? She loved storms. She had loved storms almost as much as she enjoyed playing the violin.

Of course, the idea of doing anything involving weather hadn't even occured to her until a guest speaker, a famed storm chaser, came to the college to speak on career choices. After his lecture, Chase went up to him and they'd started talking. They discussed what sort of requirements needed to be met to become a chaser. He'd humored her, at first, not really taking her seriously. After awhile, he realized that she was serious about this. She really wanted to be a storm chaser. It was as if she'd been struck by lightning during his lecture. He put her in touch with a colleague in Washington, Rico Hernandez. The summer after graduation, Chase was flying out to Seattle to meet with Rico. The rest, as they say, is history. She joined Rico's crew and has since gone on several chases. Rico has always been a bit hesitant to take her overseas, though. In between storm seasons, she has pursued more advanced degrees in physics and meteorology, determined to make Rico take her on his next big trip.

For now, Chase has relocated to Los Angeles, where she will continue pursuing her dreams and education. She has resumed playing her violin, even partially hoping to do some concerts here and there with a concert group.

Chase has always been the wild child of the Winters siblings. Though she never had any substance abuse issues or close brushes with the law, she always walked a little bit in the moment. Carpe diem has always been a favorite saying of hers, and she's tempted to even get it tattooed across her wrist. But the point is, this one embraces the fun in life, and recognizes that too much worrying will just cause you to miss out on everything you could have experienced. She's very sassy, but has a sweet side to her as well. And, unlike most people [read, prude women], she isn't afraid to admit that she enjoys sex (though she despises promiscuity, she has had a one night stand or two). It's all about seizing the day with her, which is what gives her the strength and courage to run into a helicopter destined to fly into a huge storm. Chasing (storms) is as much a part of who she is as the concert violinist within, and indeed, her duality within her careers mirrors the duality of her personality. But when it comes down to it, Chase is loyal, loving, and very protective of her family.
